A Step by Step guide to Online Registration For USA Hockey https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/
Registration Year Date Change
After careful review over the last four years, t he Registrar Section recommends changing the USA
Hockey registration season to run from May 1 through April 30.
Rationale:
This change will conform to current practices of member registration and team formation for the
majority of programs around the country.
Most programs consider mid-April to be the end of the season and they begin tryouts for the
upcoming season.
Many teams form for the upcoming season in May, June or July
There will be no need to have two seasons open for online registration at the same time
thereby streamlining the process, eliminating confusion and refunds for wrong season
registration.
The Junior program currently uses May 1 as their beginning registration date.
Additional benefits to a May 1 season-start date:
With a May 1 start date, programs will have the opportunity to hold learn to play programs and
short term introductory sessions at a time of the year when ice is less utilized. The 4 ‘extra’
months from a year’s registration would now be at the ‘front end of the season’… allowing
people to try hockey during the summer and then be able to join a team with their registration
for the season already paid.
Participants would process their USA Hockey registration for these programs and not have to
re-register again to be able to join a team for the ‘regular playing season’ (Sept/Oct to Feb)
This change will benefit programs in markets where facilities are open year-round
The season date change would have no impact on programs that operate during the ‘traditional
playing season’ (Sept-April).
Participants in USAH Player Development Camps will not be required to be registered for the next
season to participate in those events. Participation will be based on registration in the previous
season.
1. Go to www.usahockey.com and click on the “register, online” button. 2. Choose member type Ice Player/Coach. 3. You must be 18 years of age to process a registration.... Check the box that acknowledges that YOU are 18 or older. 4. Select the correct season — 2009-10. 5. Follow the prompts... fill in all data correctly. 6. Process payment — Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express (credit or debit card). A Visa gift card will also work. 7. You may print your Confirmation page at this time. It will also be emailed to you immediately after the registration is completed. Make sure your members know the following: Each participant will pay the USA Hockey fee of $30 if age 7 or older. The USA Hockey fee is waived for age 6 and younger. The registration must still be completed to get the confirmation number. Participants will also pay any applicable Affiliate fee. Let your members know what the Affiliate fee is so they are prepared. If a participant plays and coaches he/she pays only one registration fee. Additional information: The home address should be used for all participants. If a player lives in one state and plays in another, enter the home address and pay any applicable Affiliate fee. The confirmation page/number will be accepted by any USA Hockey program in the country. Need a computer? Try your local library or school. A Visa gift card can be used for payment if no credit card is available. An email address is required. You can use a friend’s address if you don’t have one. Additional confirmation pages can be requested from the Welcome page of online registration. Click on the puck in the upper left corner and enter last name, date of birth and zip code. You can then print the page or send it to the email address you enter.
**** UPDATE TO POLICY *** BACKGROUND SCREENING FOR ALL NEW COACHES, MANAGERS AND OFFICIALS MUST BE COMPLETED BY NOVEMBER 30, 2008
September 25, 2007 - Under the direction of USA Hockey policy, the AAHA Board has voted to require Backgrounds checks for all NEW coaches, managers and officials by November 30, 2008. Once cleared the names will be posted on this site. At this time, the requirement will be TO SCREEN THIRD YEAR. The website will show all coaches, managers and officals that have been screened and the year of completion. There are two options available; if you choose to fill out the screening application form and submit by email, AAHA will process and pay directly, or you can choose to use the self check login site and you will be required to pay by credit card. If you choose the self check method, once you obtain the confirmation report and are cleared, you must send the notice to your assocaition who will reimburse you. Your association will then be remibusred by AAHA. You must also send the cleared notice to Mary Stewart, AAHA Background Check Coordinator for posting on the website. This is an important initiative and we must have 100% compliance. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
